The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) consists of a range of immigration pathways for foreign nationals to become Canadian permanent residents. There is a high demand for skilled and semi-skilled occupations in the Yukon labor market.

If you wish to immigrate to Yukon, then you have the below options to choose from:
Express Entry
Applicants should have an active profile in the Express Entry pool to be eligible. Individuals who satisfy the requirements for Yukon Express Entry and express an interest to live and work in the Yukon are eligible to receive a Yukon provincial nomination.
Application process
The employer submits the application for nomination to the YNP. Once this is approved, the applicant receives nomination and 600 CRS points. After receiving an ITA from the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in an Express Entry draw, the applicant can apply for permanent resident status.
Eligibility requirements
- Applicants must be eligible for at least one of three classes of Express Entry – Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class
- Have an active Express Entry profile
- Must meet the settlement funds requirement as determined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Language ability in English or French on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB)
- Have the intention to live and work in Yukon
- Provide all required documentation in the required format
Skilled worker
Qualified Applicants with skilled work experience and a valid job offer from a Yukon employer are eligible to receive a provincial nomination. This allows the applicant to apply directly for Canadian permanent residence from IRCC.
Application process
Eligible candidates and Yukon employers should complete the application to the program together. The employer must submit the application for a provincial nomination to the YNP. Applications are usually processed within eight to ten weeks. If the application is approved, the candidate receives a nomination from Yukon to apply for permanent residence within six months.
Eligibility requirements
- Applicant must have the education, skill and work experience required to perform the job
- Language ability in English or French on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB)
- If applying from within Canada, the applicant must have legal status in Canada at the time of the application

- Applicants cannot be a refugee claimant.
- Applicants in Canada on a student permit must provide proof of one year of study for certificate programs and two years of study for diploma programs in order to be eligible under this program.
Critical impact worker
Critical Impact Worker stream gives employers the chance to nominate workers with experience in occupations classified as low-skilled for which there is a labour shortage in the Yukon Territory. Applicants under this category should have a permanent full-time job offer from a Yukon employer in an occupation that falls under NOC level C or D.

Business nominee
This stream is for individuals with proven experience and business skills to who intend to operate their own businesses to help improve the Yukon territory’s economy.
Application process
Applicants must register with the YBNP by submitting a business proposal. If accepted, the candidates will be selected from the pool of applicants and invited to complete an application for this stream. If the complete application is approved, the applicant will then need to attend an in-person interview in Yukon. Once the interview is successful, the candidate can apply to IRCC for a temporary work permit. Post which they can establish their business in Yukon.
Eligibility requirements
- Must meet the Yukon Business Nominee Program (YBNP) eligibility requirements
- Have a minimum score of 65 points on the assessment point grid.
- Candidates must demonstrate that they have enough business management experience to successfully establish and run a business in Yukon.
- Candidates must demonstrate a personal net worth of at least $500,000 CAD. As well, successful applicants must invest a minimum of $300,000 CAD in a Yukon business
- A minimum of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 4 is required for nomination to YBNP
Community pilot
This is a relatively new stream launched in 2020 to address the specific economic and labour market requirements of the Yukon. The work permit lets the candidate work for up to 3 different employers in one of the 6 participating communities and is valid for 2 years.
Application process
The application must be made online. The process and documents required depend on the location you are applying from.

- Have 2 or 3 eligible job offers
- Have a signed letter of support from the Government of Yukon
- Meet the general requirements for a work permit
