Immigration categories
If you wish to immigrate to New Brunswick, then you have four options to choose from:
Express entry labour market stream
The New Brunswick Express Entry Stream targets candidates with profiles in the federal Express Entry Pool to meet New Brunswick’s specific labour market and demographic needs.
Eligibility
Candidates must meet the initial eligibility requirements, before being assessed and scored on six factors: age, education, language skills, work experience, job offer and adaptability.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have an active Express Entry profile;
- Must have a Job Seeker Validation Code or proof of enrolment in a PGWP-eligible program at a federally-designated post-secondary institution;
- Must be currently living in New Brunswick;
- Must have valid language test scores in either English or French equal to Canadian Language Benchmark Level 7 (CLB 7).
Entrepreneurial stream
New Brunswick accepts applications under this category from individuals who plan to start and actively manage a business in New Brunswick. Applicants are expected to make an investment in the business.
How does it work?
The first step in this process is the submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the New Brunswick Department of Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour. Once an application is reviewed and assessed based on the eligibility requirements, an applicant is assigned a score based on various factors. The highest-ranked candidates are invited to submit an application for a provincial nomination under the NBPNP.
Eligibility Requirements for Applicants
- Have an eligible connection to New Brunswick.
- Be aged between 22 and 55.
- Minimum two years post-secondary education degree or diploma.
- Have a minimum level of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in English or French;
- Have completed at least two years full time post-secondary education.
- Have a personal net worth of at least $600,000 CAD of which $300,000 must be unaffected by debts or other obligations
- Invest at least $250,000 in a New Brunswick business, taking ownership of at least 33 percent.
- Sign a Business Performance Agreement with the New Brunswick provincial government and pay a deposit of $100,000.
- Business must create significant economic benefits to New Brunswick.
- Demonstrate business experience – either three years of ownership or five years of senior management experience in the last five years.
- Provide a business plan that will show how the business will benefit New Brunswick.
- Conduct an exploratory visit to New Brunswick, or participate in an information session offered by the New Brunswick provincial government.
- Intend to live and operate a business in New Brunswick.
Post graduate entrepreneurial stream
This stream is designed to for foreign nationals who have graduated from a post-secondary school in New Brunswick and established a successful business in the province.
Eligibility
- be between 22-40 years of age;
- Score a minimum language proficiency level of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or French for all four language abilities: reading, writing, listening and speaking;
- score a minimum of 65 out of 100 in New Brunswick`s PGES points assessment;
- have completed a full-time post-secondary degree or diploma for at least two years (15 hours of class per week) from a recognized university in New Brunswick or the New Brunswick Community College;
- have lived in New Brunswick during the duration of the course (distance-learning programs are not eligible);
- have owned and operated a business in New Brunswick for at least one full year (100% ownership of business equity);
- have a valid post-graduation work permit; and
- intention to work and settle in New Brunswick.
Skilled worker applicant with employer support
This stream is designed to target qualified foreign workers with a valid job offer from a New Brunswick employer. Candidates who are successfully nominated through the New Brunswick Skilled Worker Applicants with Employer Support stream will be automatically forwarded to IRCC to be accessed for Canadian permanent residence.
Eligibility
As a Skilled Worker Applicant with employer support:
- are between 22 and 55 years of age.
- have sufficient English and, or French language ability to fulfill your job duties.
- have the education, qualifications and, or licenses needed to fulfill your job duties.
- reside and work in New Brunswick.Your offer of employment is genuine.
- permanent full-time employee of a New Brunswick company.
- job is represented in one of the required National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill levelsjob is in an area of skill shortage and must provide a comparable industry rate of pay.
- job complies with New Brunswick employment standards.
- submit all required forms and supporting documents.
- score a minimum of 50 points in the selection factors.
