The Atlantic Immigration Program is designed to welcome additional newcomers to the Atlantic Canada region to fill the needs of local employers and communities.

How it Works

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) helps recruit qualified candidates for jobs that could not be filled locally. These candidates can be overseas or living in Canada as temporary residents.

Eligibility

  • Have relevant work experience unless the candidate is an international student that graduated from a approved post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada
  • International students who graduated in Canada do not need to meet the work experience requirement if- They were full ime students and have a degree, or certification that took at least 2 years and is from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • - Had the the required visa or permit to study ided in one of the Atlantic provinces for at least 16 months
Educational requirements
  • If the candidate’s job offer is NOC TEER category 0 or 1 they must have must have a one-year post-secondary educational credential or higher, or the equivalent outside of Canada
  • If the candidate’s job offer is NOC TEER category 2, 3, or 4, they must have a Canadian high school diploma, or the equivalent outside of Canada.
Language requirements
  • For NOC TEER category 0 or 1 job offers, the candidate needs a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or (NCLC) level of 5.
  • For NOC TEER category 2, 3, or 4 job offers, the candidate needs a CLB or NCLC level of 4.
Settlement funds
  • For all other candidates, they need to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds for themselves and their family to settle in Canada.
  • If the candidate is residing in Canada and working with a valid work permit, they are not required to show proof of funds.
